Endometriosis and fertility…..?
I’ve been having problems ‘down below’ for a while now, including painful sex, bleeding between periods, pain going to the loo etc and was diagnosed with endometriosis following a laparoscopy last friday.
I haven’t really been told anything else, just what I’ve got, and have got to wait 6 weeks to find out what the doctors plan on doing to treat it (Long story, my consultant is useless, I’m currently putting in a complaint).
The thing is, I’m concerned how this may affect my fertility, the nurse who told me my results said I may want to consider starting a family soon as pregnancy can help cure it. Thing is, as much as I’d love to have kids right now, I am only 21 and a student so not very financially stable, although my fiance has got a good job and we live together in a rented property.
My worry is that if I wait another 5 years or so, could it leave me infertile? I’d like to hear from women who have got endometriosis, has it affected your ability to have children? And would you consider a hysterectomy to help cure your problems? Please only answer if you know what you are talking about, no silly answers please =)
All I’ve been told is that I have ‘old endometriosis spots on the left urosacral ligament’ if that means anything! Thanks xxxx
there is really no way to really tell if you will be infertile. I would do what you can now to help treat it and stay as healthy as possible. Find the best doc possible that will explain how it all works and what you can do to make yourself healthy down there. Good luck
